Bay Shore Beach is located on the south western shore of Alamitos Bay, near the Long Beach neighbourhoods of Belmont Shore, Naples, and Peninsula. The Alamitos Peninsula separates Bay Shore from the open ocean, ensuring quiet, serene seas year-round, excellent for swimming and other water-based activities. Bay Shore is a favourite summer tourist area for families and adults who want to be active while enjoying the Southern California heat, since it offers a variety of activities and recreational services for people of all ages.

Pedestrians, bicyclers, skateboarders, rollerbladers, and rollerskaters can use Bay Shore Avenue, which runs beside this beach area, during the summer months when it is closed to traffic and transformed into a promenade. By the swim dock, there is a concession stand with food, drinks, and a shady spot to sit and picnic while the kids play in the sand or at the nearby playground. The Bay Shore sport courts are a terrific spot to meet up with friends for a game of pickup basketball, a fast game of handball, or to join a roller hockey team.
Bay Shore is the perfect spot for a leisurely swim in the approved swim area, which is located directly off the beach. A swim line demarcates a one-of-a-kind 500-yard open water swim course for more advanced swimmers. Using the swim dock, you can get in and out of the water whenever you want. Bring your kayak, paddleboard, wind-surfing board, or other small vessel to the available loading/unloading area, and when you’re done for the day, clean up in the designated wash down area before packing up. Rentals can also be obtained from the concession stand.
